Campaign 1,000 trees for Salzgitter

To improve climate protection and biodiversity in the city, the Salzgitter City Council has decided to launch the "1,000 trees for Salzgitter" campaign.

As has been the case for the past four years, trees will be made available upon request to interested residents for planting on their properties within the city limits of Salzgitter. As part of this initiative, during the 2026/2027 winter planting season, residents can receive young trees (selected deciduous tree species and standard fruit trees) free of charge from the city, which they will plant and care for themselves.

Please note that the trees and shrubs may be used exclusively for voluntary plantings in order to actually contribute to the natural ecosystem. Use for plantings required under building permits or other projects subject to approval is therefore excluded. Furthermore, the private-law requirements for the planned planting on the respective property must be met.

Orders may be placed through July 14, 2026.

Further information is available from the City of Salzgitter’s Environmental Department via email (lars.grosshans-kretschmerstadt.salzgitterde) or by phone through Lars Großhans-Kretschmer (05341 / 839-3548, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
