What will be improved with the redesign?

• Speed will be reduced in the area of the daycare center and the community center.
• Removal of the roadways and equipping the crossing facilities with tactile elements
• Paving of the crossing area in front of the daycare center with ramps as an attention area
• Improvement of the crossing area by creating a central island
• Barrier-free expansion of both bus stops Kloster

= This will improve road safety and accessibility.

• Trees and planted islands improve the quality of stay.
• Functional reorganization of the recycling collection point

= The important traffic connection from Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße to Pappeldamm will be improved in many ways for all road users and residents thanks to the redesign.

What is being done?

• The Pappeldamm in front of the parish of St. Bernward must be fully closed between the Pappeldamm junction at the family center and the street Am Hagenholz.
• A large-scale detour via Danziger Straße and Panscheberg (and vice versa) will be set up and signposted so that through traffic can avoid the construction site.
• Pedestrians and cyclists will be guided past the construction area to the south. The pedestrian connection will be adapted to the respective construction progress and is possible at any time.

• Bus routes 603 and 790 must also be diverted for this period. The bus stops "Kloster", "W.-Borchert-Straße" and "G.-Freytag- Straße" cannot be served during this period. For school trips, the "Kloster" stop will be relocated to "Am Hagenholz" street. (see diagram below).
• Klosterweg will also be closed to all road users at the junction with Pappeldamm. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted from the elementary school via Am Hagenholz.
• Access to the properties in the Pappeldamm cul-de-sac area behind the intersection and the family center located there is generally possible. Otherwise, direct coordination with the residents will take place in advance
