All free hazardous waste, such as old paints and varnishes, old batteries (not car batteries), chemicals, energy-saving light bulbs, cleaning agents and detergents, spray cans that have not been emptied, solvents, pesticides and other hazardous waste in normal household quantities are accepted at the hazardous waste collection point. If possible, hazardous waste should be handed in in its original packaging or in suitable, appropriately labeled containers and should not be mixed. Containers with a side dimension of more than 40 centimeters and a weight of more than 20 kilograms can only be handed in at the Diebesstieg waste disposal facility.
In accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act, small electrical appliances with an edge length of up to 40 centimeters are also accepted free of charge at the mobile hazardous waste collection point. This includes, for example, shavers, hair dryers, electric toothbrushes, mixers, toasters and cell phones. Larger consumer electronics, computers and household appliances such as vacuum cleaners and microwaves cannot be taken away for capacity reasons. Electrical appliances from households are accepted free of charge at the Diebesstieg waste disposal facility.
Hazardous waste that is subject to charges in accordance with the waste disposal statutes, such as used oil, used tires and asbestos, can only be disposed of at the Diebesstieg waste disposal facility.
The SRB would like to point out that the disposal of old electrical appliances and hazardous waste via the residual waste garbage can is not permitted. In particular, lithium-ion batteries from tools, for example, or other highly flammable or explosive materials such as calcium carbide or spray cans that have not been emptied must be disposed of separately as hazardous waste. Improper handling and disposal may result in spontaneous combustion.
