Spring cleaning 2026: For a beautiful and clean Salzgitter!

On Saturday, 21 March, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., clubs, organizations and individual citizens will once again be setting out to clear the city of garbage and litter.

The kindergartens and schools will already be taking part in the waste collection campaign in the week from March 16 to 20.

The following have registered so far:

The SRB has already received 55 registrations from 16 districts. This means that - as of now - 3,176 participants are expected to take part in the spring clean in March. The current number of participants is made up of 809 children from 20 daycare centers, 1835 pupils from eleven schools and 532 citizens from 24 associations, such as the volunteer fire departments and so on.

And you can still register to take part until Friday, March 13.

The city clean-up day in Salzgitter has now become a regular event, mainly thanks to the active support of many hard-working helpers. The SRB is all the more pleased that the cleaning day can take place for the 23rd time in 2026.

This great joint support from Salzgitter residents young and old is not only good for the environment, but also raises citizens' awareness of how to deal with waste that is often carelessly disposed of. Litter is sometimes only visible to the trained eye at the side of the road, but sometimes it also collects conspicuously next to trees in the grass and on the banks of streams. The city of Salzgitter has been tackling this problem since 2002 with this joint collection campaign.

Since then, kindergartens, schools, clubs, civic associations and other groups have been involved in spring cleaning with great commitment. Every citizen is responsible for a clean Salzgitter and can contribute to the cleanliness of the city by taking part in the clean-up day. This not only beautifies the surroundings, but also helps to protect the environment.

Salzgitter is supporting the European initiative "Let's Clean Up Europe" with the spring cleaning campaign.
