Description
The European Directive 2010/75/EU on Industrial Emissions (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control), or IED or IE Directive for short, regulates the approval, operation and decommissioning of industrial plants in the EU.
The directive came into force on January 6, 2011 and must be transposed into national law by the member states by January 7, 2013. The law and the two ordinances implementing the directive came into force on 02.05.2013.
The aim of the IED Directive is to prevent, reduce and, as far as possible, eliminate the environmental impact of industrial installations on air, water and soil.
The facilities concerned are subject to special monitoring and must be inspected regularly as part of an on-site inspection. This must be carried out every 3 years and every 2 years for livestock facilities that are subject to reporting obligations under the PRTR Regulation ( Pollutant Release and Transfer Register = pollutant release and transfer register).
Facilities that reach the relevant number of animal places and also exceed certain pollutant thresholds are subject to PRTR. The ammonia value is particularly important for livestock farming. This is 10,000 kg/year.
