The birth of a child must be reported to the competent authority in whose jurisdiction the child was born.
For births in hospitals or other maternity facilities, the facility itself is responsible for filing the report.

Additional regulations apply to the registration of a home birth .

• When the parents are married to each other
  • Birth certificate (s)
  • Marriage certificate or a certified extract from the marriage registry ,
• If the parents are not married to each other
  • Mother’s birth certificate
  • if paternity has already been acknowledged:
    • Declarations of acknowledgment of paternity
    • Father’s birth certificate
    • If applicable, the custody declarations
• Identification card , passport , or a recognized substitute passport document for the parents
• A birth certificate issued by a doctor or midwife, provided they were present at the birth.

A marriage certificate must also be submitted even if the marriage has already been dissolved.

The birth of a child must be reported to the competent authority within one week.

The day of birth is not included in the calculation of the notification period.

If a child is stillborn or dies in childbirth, the notification must be submitted no later than the third working day following the birth.
