Excavations for cultural artifacts, the recovery of cultural artifacts from bodies of water, and earthwork at a site where cultural artifacts are suspected to be present in the ground require approval from the competent authority.

The permit may be granted subject to certain conditions, e.g.,

• supervision of the project by an expert,
• specifications regarding planning and execution,
• handling, preservation, and documentation of archaeological finds,
• reporting,
• final restoration of the excavation site or archaeological site.
