What help is available?
The assistance is provided as outpatient, semi-residential or inpatient assistance. This includes in particular
- Medical rehabilitation services, e.g. early detection and early intervention for children
- Services for participation in working life, e.g. services in the work area of recognized workshops, services with other service providers, services with private and public employers
- Services for participation in education, e.g. assistance with school education, assistance with school or university education or further training for a profession
- Benefits for social participation, e.g. benefits for housing, assistance benefits, curative education benefits, benefits for care in a foster family, benefits for acquiring and maintaining practical knowledge and skills, benefits to promote communication, benefits for mobility, aids, visiting allowances
Depending on the type of assistance, the person's own income and assets must be used as personal contributions.
The application must always be submitted before the need for assistance begins, as otherwise assistance will only be granted from the day the social welfare provider becomes aware of it. To meet the deadline, it is usually sufficient to submit the application either by telephone or in an informal application. A corresponding formal application can then be submitted later.
