Salzgitter

Knights' castle playground reopened

Once the defects have been rectified, seating will be built next week. A water play area is not feasible due to the water quality. As an alternative, this is planned for the neighboring playground "Im Teiche".

On June 26, the knight's castle playground was opened in Gebhardshagen in the immediate vicinity of the historic moated castle.

As part of the regular playground inspections carried out by the municipal public works department, parts of the dragon were found to have defective foundations. These were re-concreted and the connection between the foundations and the dragon (the so-called foundation anchor) was also improved. This work has been completed and the playground is now fully open for play again.

The installation of the planned seating is scheduled for next week. Two additional park benches with backrests, two without backrests and two tables will be installed. Additional litter bins are also planned. A fence is also planned to mark the boundary to the pond.

Originally, a water play area was planned at the Mühlengraben, but this cannot be realized there due to the poor water quality. Health has absolute priority here!

The directly neighboring playground "Im Teiche" offers an alternative. The existing pump there is to be used to create a water play area next year as part of the renovation of the playground.

There are also plans to dismantle the former cattle wash at the Mühlengraben and to better connect the Ritterburg playground with the existing playgrounds by means of a ramp bridge and a net bridge over the Mühlengraben.
