Lending Salzgitter-Briefs

Dr. Dirk Härdrich, City Councillor for Education, Social Affairs and Integration, presented 15 men and women with the Salzgitter-Brief in the stables of Gebhardshagen moated castle to thank them for their commitment.

At the ceremony with around 70 guests, he expressed his thanks for the energy and commitment of the volunteers who are involved in various areas for senior citizens in Salzgitter.

The Salzgitter-Briefs are awarded every two years to senior citizens in recognition of their many years of voluntary commitment as senior citizens or in senior citizen work.

The award winners are selected by the Seniorenbeirat.

This year, 15 award winners were honored in the categories of social, leisure and sociability; culture and music; health, sport, exercise and activities to promote intergenerational cooperation. The Seniorenbeirat also awarded a special prize.

On behalf of the city of Salzgitter, Dr. Dirk Härdrich thanked those involved for the responsible work carried out by the award winners. "Their commitment is an important pillar in and for our city," emphasized the city councillor. The commitment of senior citizens to other older people is exemplary and deserves special appreciation and recognition.

The praise and congratulations from the representatives of the council factions present were followed by a varied speech by Pastor Holger Hübner on volunteering.

Discussions with the honorees and musical interludes by the "Concordia SZ-Gebhardshagen" choir rounded off the event.
