State authority: Further speed restriction on the B6

The state authority for road construction and traffic is planning to replace the road bridge over the railroad and two district roads on the B6 near Salzgitter-Bad with a new bridge due to its inadequate load-bearing capacity.

It is expected that the planning approval decision for the new bridge will be issued by the state in summer 2022 and that construction work can begin in 2023. However, as objections and comments from public and private interests had to be taken into account, the planned renewal of the structure has been delayed.

To compensate for the reduced load-bearing capacity, the state authority has already had to take measures to reduce the load in recent years. In order to be able to use the structure until the temporary bypass goes into operation, additional restrictions are necessary following new investigations, according to the state authority.
restrictions are necessary, according to the state authority.

The maximum permitted speed in the area of the bridge will be reduced to 30 km/h. The state authorities in Goslar urge that the speed limit on the bridge be adhered to. As compliance with the speed limit on the bridge is an essential element in reducing the dynamic load, monitoring is unavoidable. Road users should therefore be prepared for speed cameras.

These speed cameras will be signposted in advance from both directions of travel, as the city of Salzgitter and the state road construction authority do not want to collect money from road users, but want to prevent a lengthy detour from becoming necessary before the temporary bypass is completed, which would put far more strain on moving traffic than the temporary 30 km/h speed reduction.

If you have any questions, please contact the state authority by telephone on 05321 / 311-166 or by e-mail poststellenlstbv-gs.niedersachsende.
