Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel on the Konrad decision by the state of Lower Saxony

"I am a little surprised at the way Environment Minister Meyer has announced his final decision."

And further: "His rejection itself was to be expected. He had already retreated too far behind formal legal regulations in his provisional rejection decision. Now the Minister is again declaring that he doesn't really want to, but is legally obliged to refuse. We, the Alliance against Konrad, finally expect the 2002 approval decision to be reviewed not only in formal legal terms, but also in substantive legal terms in accordance with the latest scientific and technical findings. We owe this to the people in our densely populated region. In this respect, I am convinced that we must now have the rejection by the Minister for the Environment consistently reviewed by the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court. We expect and hope that the court will also enter into a substantive legal review for the first time."
