Due to the challenging circumstances in which the city of Salzgitter also found itself in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the administration under Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel presented the 2nd addendum to the 2020 budget year to the Salzgitter City Council on October 28, 2020. It was presented together with the double budget for 2021 and 2022. Following the presentation, the draft budgets were discussed by the political groups and the Finance Committee. Finally, the 2nd addendum was adopted by the Salzgitter City Council on December 1, 2020, taking into account the administration's list of changes. The Ministry of the Interior of Lower Saxony granted unqualified approval on 29.03.2021. Following public display and publication in the Amtsblatt, it took effect on 30.04.2021.
