Description

Description

The nature conservation area is a form of area-based land protection and is the oldest and best-known instrument of nature conservation.

Areas that are important for the conservation, development or restoration of flora and fauna and their habitats or communities can be designated as nature conservation areas. Nature conservation areas can also be designated if areas are worthy of protection for scientific, natural-historical or regional reasons or because of their rarity, special character or outstanding beauty.

Nature conservation areas are established by ordinance of the competent authority. This ordinance contains a description of the area and its conservation purpose as well as the regulations necessary to achieve the conservation purpose. The boundaries of the nature conservation area are shown on an associated map.

Information on the nature conservation areas and actions requiring authorization can be obtained from the competent authority.
