who were in receipt of benefits on the cut-off date of October 1 are automatically sent by post at the end of each year. In the case of family groups, each family member receiving benefits receives their own passport.
Anyone who was only awarded one of these benefits after the cut-off date can apply for their Salzgitter pass retrospectively at the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.
The Salzgitter passports are valid for a maximum of one year and will be sent by post again in good time in subsequent years if benefits are still being received.

On the application procedure for non-automated dispatch:
- Anyone who receives their benefits from the Social Services and Senior Citizens Department of the City of Salzgitter can submit the application to their case worker. The SZ-Pass will be issued immediately upon application if the requirements are met.
- Anyone who receives their benefits from the Salzgitter Jobcenter can submit an application at Salzgitter-Lebenstedt town hall in room 301. When submitting the application, the current benefit notification from the Jobcenter must be presented. Applications can also be submitted by post.
SZ passports are issued exclusively by the City of Salzgitter. The Salzgitter Pass must be returned when you stop receiving benefits.
The pass can currently be used to obtain discounts at eleven institutions, facilities, etc.
The City of Salzgitter is looking for further facilities/institutions that offer discounts.
Recipients of benefits that ensure their livelihood are also entitled to receive an entitlement pass for the Salzgitter city mobility ticket upon presentation of the SZ-Pass.
A photo ID must be presented with the "Salzgitter Pass" in order to claim the benefits.
