Salzgitter

Willy-Brandt-Straße construction site

Avacon Netz announces: Due to work on the gas network, there will be traffic disruptions on Willy-Brandt-Straße in Lebenstedt from Monday, August 17, until probably the end of September.

Detour recommendation for the construction site

On the morning of August 17, Willy-Brandt-Straße will be fully closed from 8:00 a.m. in the direction of the train station. At the same time, one of two lanes will be closed in the outbound direction (westbound). Vehicles can therefore continue to drive in this direction, but traffic flow is expected to be impeded. The exit from the BraWo-Carree (formerly CityCarree) will be possible in both directions.

The cycle paths and footpaths on both sides of the road will also be affected. The northern footpath and cycle path will be completely closed from the Kattowitzer Straße junction to the pedestrian traffic lights in the direction of Stadtpark. The southern sidewalk will remain usable. However, the cycle path will also be closed on this side of the road, also from the Kattowitzer Straße junction to the pedestrian lights in the direction of Stadtpark. Detour for both cyclists and motor traffic will be signposted.

The construction work and the changed traffic routing are being carried out in consultation with the responsible authorities of the city of Salzgitter. The reason for this is the renovation of a major gas supply pipeline in the street. In order to ensure security of supply in the future, the existing steel pipeline with a diameter of 30 centimetres must be replaced by a new pipeline over a length of 420 meters due to its age. The construction work is being carried out using a closed construction method known as relining. This involves inserting the new pipeline into the cavity of the existing pipeline.

Avacon asks residents and road users for their understanding for the inconvenience caused by the construction work.
