Important note:

From Wednesday, 05.10.2022, postal voting documents will only be sent by post if this is expressly requested. Due to postal delivery times, it can no longer be guaranteed that the mail will arrive on time and can be returned to the city of Salzgitter or the district of Wolfenbüttel. The risk of postal delivery times is then borne exclusively by the voter.

Of course, the documents can still be collected in person during the opening hours of the postal voting office and you can also vote immediately on the spot.

Anyone who is unable to vote at their polling station can apply for a polling card and make use of the postal voting option. Polling cards and documents for postal voting for the Landtagswahl can be obtained from the postal voting office of the city of Salzgitter upon written application. The application for a polling card and postal voting documents on the back of the election notification can be used.

Postal voting can be applied for until the Friday before the election, October 7, at 1:00 pm. From October 5 onwards, postal votes will only be sent at the risk of the person entitled to vote, as timely delivery cannot be guaranteed. In these cases, the postal voting documents should be collected.

For the postal vote application, please state your surname, first name, date of birth and address in Salzgitter and, if applicable, a different address for sending the postal vote documents. It is not possible to apply for postal voting documents by telephone, but by fax or on the Internet using the online form at www.salzgitter.de.

For the Landtagswahl, postal voting documents can also be requested for the first time using a QR code on the front of the voter's notification. Voters simply need a smartphone or tablet to scan the QR code. The online form is already pre-filled with the personal data. Finally, only the data protection provisions need to be confirmed.

The postal voting documents will be sent by post.

There will again be the opportunity to vote directly on site. The postal voting office for the Landtagswahl will be open at the Salzgitter-Bad branch office and at Salzgitter-Lebenstedt town hall from 08.09.2022 at the following times:

Voters do not need an appointment to exercise their right to vote. You must bring your polling card with you.
