Around 20 participants received information on the draft plans for the road renovation from Torsten Fleige-Lütgering, head of specialist services, Clemens Grießhammer, project manager at the city, and Jan-Hendrik Vohland and Lutz Wackermann from Pabsch Ingenieure. Suggestions and ideas from the first participation event in November 2022 were incorporated into this planning.
The central topics of the design planning for the road layout that were discussed at the event were:
- The preferred option is recommended as option 2, which was presented last year, with offset parking spaces.
- The avoidance of the "optical cut-through", i.e. the unobstructed view and the associated possibility of driving fast or too fast on the road. This is to be reduced by means of an adapted road layout and three crossing points.
- The routing of cycle traffic at the Gittertor traffic circle into Gittertor street.
- The use of eco-paving for the parking strips, which will allow more water to seep away.
- The replacement of 14 lime trees in the row of trees due to damage to the existing trees.
- Installation of new street lighting using LED technology.
And so it goes on:
First of all, the design planning will be completed by the commissioned engineering firm in the following months, which will then be reviewed within the administration. In the course of the coming year, the political consultations on the resulting draft resolution and the decision in the administrative committee will then take place. At the same time, the eligibility of the project for state funding will be examined, which will also determine whether the project can be implemented in 2025.
