What moves you? What makes you smile, marvel, or pause? This special dance class isn’t about perfection or set steps—it’s about expression, connection, and learning together. A variety of musical styles from all over
the world, free improvisation, and guided exercises combine with opportunities for cultural exchange, reflection, and participation.
In this way, movement becomes the starting point for cultural education, self-education, and shared understanding.

Registration is required at the Volkshochschule vhsstadt.salzgitterde); the course costs 9.10 euros and takes place at the Kniestedter Herrenhaus (Braunschweiger Straße 137a).

2:00 p.m.: Opening of the exhibition by the intercultural creative group from AWISTA Fredenberg. The participants of the creative group will be present: “Dafür!—for diversity, creativity, and the freedom to express what’s inside us.” In our creative course, each participant painted what came from the heart. The result is a diverse exhibition, as unique as the women who created it. With our exhibition, we want to send a message of diversity, creativity, mutual respect, and togetherness.”

The exhibition can be visited during Intercultural Week during AWISTA’s opening hours (Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Admission is free.

6:00 p.m.: Cabaret “Drama Türkin 2.0” with Senay Duzcu, Kulturscheune Salzgitter-Lebenstedt (Thiestraße 22). “A ‘drama’—for the rebelliously refreshing and thought-provoking Turkish comedian Senay Duzcu, a Turkish stand-up comedian, this means she isn’t a typical Turkish woman. For her society, that’s a drama!

The cabaret artist performed in Salzgitter in 2025 and thrilled the audience. Guests can look forward to a special follow-up that once again tells stories from her life. Senay Duzcu delivers comedy with depth.

3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: SOS Mothers’ Center, HERTA Treff (opens in a new tab), Erikastraße 11a: Karaoke: Whether it’s German classics, international hits, or your favorite songs—feel free to sing, laugh, and celebrate together. Anyone who enjoys music can grab the microphone and just sing (and you don’t even have to hit the right note…).

2:30 p.m.: The MIT BRING tea/coffee hour—"A Table Full of Cultures"—will take place in cooperation with the Citizen Service for Migrants at AWISTA Fredenberg (opens in a new tab) (Kurt-Schumacher-Ring 4). The food brought should reflect the guests’ cultural backgrounds. A relaxed get-together to strike up conversations with one another. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: SOS Mothers’ Center, HERTA Treff, Erikastraße 11a, (opens in a new tab) Intercultural Potluck Breakfast: If possible, guests are asked to bring a small treat that they enjoy eating, sharing, or that is connected to their own family, culture, or homeland. This creates a varied breakfast buffet with many different flavors and stories. Whether homemade, store-bought, sweet, or savory—every little something is welcome! Eating together, trying new things, and striking up conversations: Intercultural Week comes to a cozy close.

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Open Mosque Day, IGMG Salzgitter-Lebenstedt ( (opens in a new tab)Am Haudorn 2a, 38226 Salzgitter): The program includes a tour of the mosque, a lecture on the topic “Mosques as Pillars of Social Structure,” a Q&A session, and an open discussion.

Under the theme “Mosques as Pillars of Social Structure,” the 2026 Open Mosque Day invites visitors to explore the diverse roles of mosque communities in Germany:

Mosques are far more than places of worship—they are places of encounter, dialogue, and social engagement.

At the same time, the theme commemorates 30 years of Open Mosque Day and 77 years of the Basic Law. It underscores that a free and diverse society thrives on people and institutions that take responsibility for the common good.

4:00 p.m.: “Bunte Sole”Award Ceremony (Fredenberg High School Auditorium, Hans-Böckler-Ring 20a, 38226 Salzgitter) Who will receive this year’s City of Salzgitter Integration Award?

The award recognizes outstanding achievements as well as the small, everyday acts that help promote integration in Salzgitter and play a vital role in the city. The award may be presented to individuals, groups of people, or organizations that have distinguished themselves through such commitment.

Before the “Bunte Sole” award ceremony takes place on October 4 on the stage of the Aula Fredenberg, visitors to the evening event can look forward to a diverse and colorful program featuring entertainment, cabaret, music, and performances.
