Salzgitter

"Salzgitter-Sammelmappe" is launched

It starts on September 1: The parents of all children who receive a visit from a volunteer baby greeter as part of the baby welcome visits from this date will receive a "Salzgitter-Sammelmappe" as a welcome gift.

Presented the "Salzgitter Collection Folder" together with the baby greeters: Head of Specialist Services Elke Ferfers (left), City Councillor Dr. Dirk Härdrich (2nd from left), Anna Koch (3rd from left), Process Facilitator Simone Welzien (back 5th from left), Youth Welfare Committee Chairman Michael Letter (back 7th from left), Nicole Palm (front 2nd from right).

The folders have now been presented to the volunteers at a launch event in the Kulturscheune by city councillor Dr. Dirk Härdrich, head of specialist services Elke Ferfers, Nicole Palm from youth welfare planning at the specialist service for children, young people and families, Anna Koch from the specialist service's family service office, youth welfare committee chairman Michael Letter and process facilitator Simone Welzien.

The collection folders are distributed free of charge to families by the baby greeters during a home visit in the first few weeks after the birth of a baby. They can then start collecting documents relating to their baby.

Parents can bring the folder with them when they visit a toddler group, a pediatrician's office or when they seek advice. Facilities in this first phase of life display a poster in the entrance area: "We are a Salzgitter-Sammelmappe location".

The folder contains a short, handwritten letter with a personal message to the child. It also contains information for parents, a burp cloth and self-knitted baby socks.

The "Salzgitter-Sammelmappe" project was developed to accompany children and young people through the various phases of their lives: From birth to entry into working life, they are supported and encouraged by numerous educational professionals and other experts, and their development is documented in a variety of ways.
However, valuable information is often lost during the transition from one institution to the next, for example from kindergarten to school. The folder enables parents, and later also children and young people, to take responsibility for shaping these "transition processes".

According to Dr. Härdrich, head of the social services department, there are many people in the city who find it difficult to store documents in such a way that they are always to hand before a visit to the authorities and do not get lost. This folder is intended for them, but also for those who would simply appreciate a practical document storage system.
