Eddie Filipp (D)
I've been a professional musician since I was 22. Initially, I played in many different bands in Braunschweig and gave some lessons.
In my mid-20s, I joined the band "Sweety Glitter". We played an incredible number of gigs. That time was a great lesson for me in terms of playing on big stages. I stayed exactly until my 30th birthday.
At the same time, I did my first studio jobs and played a lot of jazz and fusion to keep everything that interested me in balance. After a short guest appearance with Andy Scott's Sweet, where I stood in for their drummer several times, I met Alex Conti at a studio job in 1996. Alex invited me to play on his solo CD. Later he took me into the band "Rockship", which he had founded with Inga Rumpf. We played together for 4 years.
During this time and to this day, I've done a lot of studio jobs and mixed in various projects - very often in Hamburg, "my musical home".
I have had my own studio, label and publishing company since 2000. Here I record the drums for other artists, produce or do both, as with the productions of my friend Britta Rex, Clem Clempson, Dietmar Osterburg, Tadeusz Jakubowski or, after our reunion with Alex in 2012, for the "Lake" album "Freedom".
Lui Ludwig (D)
Lui Ludwig started his drumming career in 1984 as a self-taught drummer. After his first club appearances, he co-founded a well-known German band with which he played on major stages until 2004 and recorded 6 albums. In 1995, he founded his fusion jazz trio Jazz Pistols; the band has released seven albums to date and played on eight major tours in 33 countries, 23 of them in Africa alone. An important part of these tours were not only the concerts, but also the workshops that Lui Ludwig gave in many places.
Lui Ludwig has worked with many well-known artists, on stage, in the studio or in front of the camera, such as Chaka Khan, Uwe Ochsenknecht, Chris Norman, Nosi Katzmann, Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, Laith Al Deen, Gregor Meyle, Xavier Naidoo, Söhne Mannheims and many more. He was musical director for percussion at Autosymphonic, a major multimedia show in Mannheim in 2011.
His great passion is the claves and polyrhythms, which are not only reflected in his distinctive playing. Lui Ludwig also likes to pass on his knowledge in workshops and band coaching sessions at home and abroad.
He has been a permanent member of the teaching team at the Popakademie Mannheim from the very beginning, specializing in rhythm, micro- and macrotiming, claves and, of course, movement, sport and improving posture when playing drums.
