New Course: Progressive Muscle Relaxation for People with Mental Illness

On Tuesday, October 6, a new group course titled “Progressive Muscle Relaxation” (PMR) based on the Jacobson method for people with mental health conditions will begin at the Medical Library of the Salzgitter Public Health Department in Salzgitter-Bad, located at 1 Paracelsusstraße –9, a new group course on “Progressive Muscle Relaxation” (PMR) based on Jacobson’s method for people with mental health conditions.

People with mental health conditions can learn about and practice the easy-to-learn relaxation method “PMR” together in a group setting once a week, without the pressure to perform perfectly.

People with mental health conditions, in particular, are all too familiar with negative emotional states such as anxiety, nervousness, and stress in their daily lives. As a result of constant unpleasant emotions and worries, the muscles automatically tense up, which can become a chronic condition. Emotional distress intensifies, and physical pain symptoms often result as well.

With the help of “PMR,” participants learn to consciously tense and then deliberately relax specific muscle groups in their bodies. This makes it easier to let go on a physical, mental, and emotional level and to become more relaxed.

The course lasts eight weeks and takes place every Tuesday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Participation is free of charge.

You can register by calling 05341 / 839-2031.
