The paintings of flowers, meadows, forests and animals are mainly created using acrylic techniques on cardboard, paper and canvas. She paints her pictures partly on location in nature, but also from memories of things she has seen and experienced and from photos and sketches. Nature, a significant starting point for her paintings, inspires her time and again and allows her positive attitude to life to flow into her pictures.
Ursula van der Veen discovered painting for herself on vacation in Crete in 1994. The new light and the special colors made her reach for her brush and she created her first landscape paintings in watercolor. Her paintings continue to develop out of color, with blue in many variations being one of her favorite colors.
In painting schools in Wolfenbüttel and Braunschweig, she became familiar with the conscious use of colors and techniques.
Ursula van der Veen lives and works in Wolfenbüttel.
