The "Schlosscafé" restaurant to be leased
The property is a 230.26 square meter (gross floor area) building that fits into the building ensemble of the Salder Castle municipal museum.
Its glazed exterior walls and glass roofing allow plenty of light to penetrate the building and create a bright and friendly atmosphere that invites people to linger and enjoy themselves.
Despite its rather small restaurant area, it offers many opportunities to entertain guests in the rooms, but also in front of the building in the castle courtyard and on a small terrace behind the building. Both in front of the building and on the small terrace, guests have a view of the historical ambience of the castle buildings and, at the rear, the museum's Eiszeitgarten.
The kitchen as well as the adjoining storage room of 30 square meters offer the possibility to serve both cold and warm dishes.
In the past, the restaurant has been the destination of many excursionists, but has also been used by many Salzgitter residents for birthdays or other family celebrations.
Another plus point is the proximity to the museum's exhibition rooms, where the history of Salzgitter and the Braunschweig region is presented with exhibits from the history of the earth to the city's most recent history.
In the Fürstensaal of the castle, the registry office of the city of Salzgitter offers so-called "ambience weddings" for wedding couples. An offer that is popular with many couples due to the beautiful atmosphere and backdrop.
There are also numerous events that take place in the castle courtyard, such as the Museum Festival and the Kultursommer, where many well-known artists perform.
Own design options
The property is leased as it stands and lies. Conversion work must be carried out by the lessee in consultation with the lessor (the City of Salzgitter).
A takeover of the inventory from the previous tenant against reimbursement of the current value is desirable, but not obligatory.
Desired opening hours and services of the café
The city would like the castle café to be open 6 days a week and at weekends. The offer should include breakfast, lunch and an evening menu as well as catering for municipal events at Salder Castle.
Necessary application documents

- Curriculum vitae with details of qualifications and existing references
- Proof of creditworthiness for the equipment and lease, Schufa self-disclosure (not older than three months)
- Police clearance certificate (not older than three months)
- Information from the central trade register
- Certificate in tax matters (tax clearance certificate)
Lease and operating costs
The minimum monthly rent is 600.00 euros.
In the first six to twelve months, a monthly rent of 500.00 euros will have to be paid due to the prevailing corona pandemic.
In addition, the operating costs and ancillary costs are to be paid by the tenant.
The lease is to be concluded for at least three years. There is an option to extend the lease.

The selection process
The contract will be awarded after an internal selection procedure, taking into account the documents submitted, and after a subsequent interview using the following award criteria:
