This notification obligation also applies if the business is only to be operated for a short period of time, i.e. the previous permits for temporary restaurant operations.
The basic principle here is that the City of Salzgitter must be notified at least four weeks before food or drink is offered for the first time. This also applies to previous permits for temporary catering operations, for example at sports festivals and town festivals.
If alcoholic beverages are to be served, even if only for a short time, the notifying party must apply for a certificate of good conduct and submit information from the central trade register in order to prove their personal reliability.
Even those who only want to serve non-alcoholic drinks or prepared food for consumption on the premises must now also notify the catering business four weeks in advance. However, the presentation of a certificate of good conduct and information from the central trade register is not required in this case.
The described notification obligation also applies to the operation of a branch, a dependent branch and also to the expansion of the existing offer to include alcoholic beverages or prepared food.
The NGastG also regulates the rules on the offering and prices of non-alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages must be offered if alcoholic beverages are offered. At least one non-alcoholic drink must be cheaper per liter than the cheapest alcoholic drink. In addition, the innkeeper may not serve alcohol to recognizably drunk people and may not charge guests for the use of the toilets.
The authorities involved in the licensing procedure, e.g. building inspectorate, food inspectorate, etc., will be notified of the restaurant notification, but before the start of operations.
An information sheet is available for restaurant operators, in which important authorities and their contacts are named, which operators may need to visit before starting to operate a restaurant.
Jürgen Laufer (Salzgitter-Lebenstedt town hall, telephone 05341 / 839-3227) and Hanna Müller-Zitzke (Salzgitter-Bad branch office, telephone 05341 / 839-2034) are available by telephone and in person during opening hours to answer any further questions regarding the NGastG.
